Web design

Websites built by hand, made to be found

Dan designs and builds websites for small businesses: no page-builder templates, no bloat. Every site is written for real customers and set up so Google and AI assistants can understand it.

Since 2014 Dan has worked in digital marketing and customer experience for brands including Charter Communications, Subway and Sun Life, with degrees in graphic design and architectural engineering and an MBA. Small businesses get that same experience, at small-business scale.

What went into it

  • Six pages, one job each. A homepage that sorts visitors by service, plus solar, electrical, security, about and a real project case study.
  • Two languages. A full Afrikaans version of every page, kept in step with the English.
  • Built for search. Structured data, a sitemap, FAQ answers Google can read, and a plain-language summary for AI assistants.
  • Nothing lost in the move. Every address from the old site redirects to its new page, so old links and rankings carry over.
  • Fast everywhere. Hosted on a global network with compressed images and caching.
  • Easy to reach. An enquiry form, tap-to-call and WhatsApp on every page.

What Dan builds

Second-language versions

A full translated site that stays in sync with the original.

Speed and hosting

Fast hosting, compressed images and caching, set up and handed over.

Yours to keep

You own the files, the domain and the accounts. No lock-in.

How a project runs

  1. TalkWhat you do, who your customers are, and what the site needs to get them to do.
  2. DesignA first version of the key pages, built around your real content and photos.
  3. BuildEvery page finished, tested on phones and checked for speed and search.
  4. LaunchDomain, redirects and hosting switched over, then a walkthrough of how it all works.

Questions about web design

Can you move my website off Wix, GoDaddy or WordPress without losing my Google rankings?

Yes. Every address on the old site is redirected to its matching new page, so existing links, bookmarks and search rankings carry over. That is how the All Electrical Contractors site moved off its old GoDaddy site.

Will my website show up in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and other AI assistants?

No one can guarantee placement, but every site Dan builds is set up so AI assistants can read it: structured data, a sitemap, clear answers to common questions, and a plain-language summary file written for AI tools.

Do I own my website when it is finished?

Yes. You own the files, the domain and the accounts. Nothing is locked to a page builder or a monthly platform.

Can my website be in two languages?

Yes. Dan builds full second-language versions that stay in step with the original, like the English and Afrikaans versions of the All Electrical Contractors site.

What does a web design project with Dan look like?

Four stages: a conversation about your business and customers, a first design of the key pages, the full build tested on phones for speed and search, then launch with hosting, domain and redirects switched over.
